"Real Estate Professional" these are not just words used to describe every real estate agent. True real estate professionals care for their clients needs, protect them from harm and operate their business in a manner which provides excellent customer service.
This week I had a confusing thing happen. My client was short selling one of their investment properties. We received an offer last month and accepted it. This week the lender notified us that the short sale was denied. (not the offer...the short sale approval). I immediately notified my client and then the buyers agent.
Here's where things got weird. The buyers agent emailed me back and said "I think you have the wrong person". REALLY?? I replied with a copy of the executed contract attached to the email. They then replied with "Oh yeah...I have the buyer. I forgot all about this". REALLY? You forgot about the client? The contract? The fact that you called me at 8:30 pm to make your appointment to show it? (cuz I shure didn't)
Unfortunately we see this "professional" behavior too often.
My advice is to always make an appointment to meet your potential agent face to face before agreeing to work with them. A true professional will tell you how they will communicate with you and how often. They will take notes on your needs and goals. They will discuss what your expectations are and how they will assist you in reaching your goals. Contact 3 or more agents and meet with all of them for a consultation. If the agent is not prepared for your consultation they may not be the best choice.
Whether you are selling or buying a home you are making decisions that affect the single largest investment in your life. You deserve the proper representation and should always require the highest level of professionalism from your agent.
